If it's May, it's Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month!

Each May, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in the U.S. are celebrated during Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month. AAPI communities represent diverse cultures and traditions that have for generations enriched U.S. society, history, and culture with extraordinary contributions.

Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month had its origin in a roughly week-long commemoration that was initiated in Congress in May 1977. In 1992 the observance became annual, with Congress passing Public Law 102-450 -- legislation that designates May as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month.

For more information, virtual visitors to the Union College Libraries are invited to explore the AAPI Subject Guide, or to ask for further assistance from librarians via our Chat Service, available on the UC Libraries homepage.
