Overview

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly evolving technology that is constantly changing. This subject guide offers up-to-date information and resources on all aspects of AI. This Guide is made for students, faculty, and staff at UCNJ. Some of the resources presented will require you to login using your UCNJ email and password to access.


What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

“Artificial intelligence, or AI, is technology that enables computers and machines to simulate human intelligence and problem-solving capabilities” (What is artificial intelligence (AI)?, n.d.).

Who is Using AI? 

The following statistics come from the Pew Research Center published on March 26, 2024:

  • 22% of Americans say they interact with artificial intelligence almost constantly or several times a day
  • 27% of Americans say they interact with AI about once a day or several times a week

Percentage of people by age group who interact with AI at least several times a week:

  • 56% - ages 18 to 29 
  • 54% - ages 30 to 49 
  • 46% - ages 50 to 64 
  • 37% - ages 65 and older

Importance of Responsible Use

AI has shown many benefits to society as it continues to evolve. With these changes and impacts to everyday life, it is essential to keep in mind the potential harms and risks that this technology can have. When using AI, always be mindful and cautious.
